Twitter Users Increase by 12 Million in Q1 of 2021

During the 1st quarter of 2021, Twitter users grew by 12 million. The platform’s latest performance update reports that it now has 199 million daily active users. It also reports a 28% year-over-year growth. Twitter’s Q1 of 2021 revenue now stands at $1.04 billion. Twitter notes that the increase in revenue and users is due to their ongoing product development. Another factor is the increased global conversation around news events. 

First off, Twitter rolled out Fleets last November 2020. They are a story-like version of Instagram that disappears after 24 hours. Such a momentary and private experience has boosted interest among users. The interest expanded as Twitter added animated stickers, customizable backgrounds, and Tweemojis to make Fleets more fun and engaging. Twitter also launched business profiles for brands and businesses. With dedicated tools for advertising, marketers flux to try out Twitter ads. 

Twitter’s partnership with Birdwatch to counteract misinformation also created a positive effect on the platform. It brought about an increase in users within the US by 13%. Twitter also records a significant increase of users in India and Japan. That is why the platform created a global office in Ghana. In general, the numbers in Twitter’s latest performance update look good and promising.
