Pinterest is a visual discovery engine where you can find ideas and inspirations. But last year, the platform started launching a new suite of eCommerce tools. These include idea pins, shop tabs, and spotlight. The platform also enabled digital shopping innovations such as AR try-on, hair pattern search, and virtual test drive. After launching a brand campaign, Pinterest now expands its in-app shopping tools.

Pinterest’s in-app shopping tools are initially available in the US. Last June, it was made available in Australia, Canada, France, and Germany. Today Pinterest expands these in-app shopping tools to 7 new countries. These are:
- Austria
- Brazil
- Italy
- Mexico
- Spain
- Switzerland
- The Netherlands
Pinners in the countries mentioned above can now easily find products and services through lens camera search. They can directly transition from pin to purchase. Merchants in the countries covered by Pinterest in-app shopping tools can apply under the Verified Merchant Program to access Pinterest shops, product tagging, and other shopping tools.
Pinterest expands its in-app shopping tools as of 15 September 2021.
Implications for Marketers:
The expansion of Pinterest shopping tools is a great way to boost eCommerce in its covered countries. For marketers, they can be a perfect option to drive direct conversion among 478 million pinners without leaving the Pinterest app.
