Pinterest has now evolved as an eCommerce platform. This visual discovery engine has been rolling out new features and tools to make online shopping easier for pinners. It enabled AR try-on, B2B campaign, and Collections pins. It also expanded its Shopify partnership. Today, Pinterest launches Idea Pins.
Idea Pins are revamped Story Pins. It is a multi-page short-video form allowing brands to create inspiring content and connect to pinners. The short clips can last up to 60 seconds and contain up to 20 frames. Unlike Story Pins, they remain on the creator’s profile. Pinterest also adds “detail pages” on Idea Pins. Here, creators can put extra annotations or explanations about the product. Creators can also add topic tags to boost discovery. The platform also updates its editing tools with music options, stickers, and voiceovers. A unique feature of Idea Pins is the “ghost mode” tool. It allows creators to overlay a previous frame within the composer. Such a tool guides creators with their video transitions.
