Around 500 million people tap into Instagram Stories daily. Such ephemeral content allows momentary sharing of text, photos, and videos that disappear after 24 hours. To enhance the feature, Instagram is testing uncut longer Stories videos among selected people. With multi-uploading of images and videos plus product tags, it allows brands to promote their products and services.
Last June, the platform has replaced the Stories swipe-up link with link stickers. At the time, it is testing to make such link stickers available to all users. Currently, the links in IG Stories are only accessible to accounts with 10,000 followers and up. Today, Instagram enables sharing links in Stories with everyone.
To share links in Stories, select the sticker tool at the top navigation bar after uploading your story. Tap the link sticker and add a link, then tap done. What makes Stories link stickers unique are the potentials to customize their colors, frame positions, and text size or style.
Instagram enables sharing links in Stories to everyone as of 27 October 2021.
Implications for Marketers:
Enabling Instagram Stories links to everyone is a great opportunity for marketers to boost engagement and reach. By posting Stories about a brand and pairing it with an eCommerce link, it will likely increase sales and influence the buying experience.
