Instagram replaces Swipe-Up Links on Stories to Link Stickers

Instagram continuously exerts efforts to improve interaction among Stories. Stories are momentary sharing of text, photos, and videos that disappear after 24 hours. It has been a big hit with 500 million Instagrammers using it daily. After making link stickers on Stories available for everyone, the platform tested vertical content feeds on the Explore tab, which is like a Reels feed. Today, Instagram replaces swipe-up links on Stories to link stickers.

Instagram swipe up links

Starting 30 August 2021, the swipe-up link on Stories will be removed. Users who want to add links to their Stories should use the link stickers instead. With the new update, Instagram aims to achieve:

  • An extra creative control as a creator can toggle link stickers in different placement and styles.
  • Further engagement as link stickers can receive quick reactions and replies like emojis. The swipe-up link could not receive feedback.
  • Streamlines Stories creation as link stickers can be customized to further express yourself using case links.
