It’s a new fun way to get connected.

Google Meet Introduces Replaceable Background

Google has recently been rolling out updates. It added audio engagement, new ad tools, and digital opportunities, and Shoploop (a video review platform). It has also updated the Google Business Profile. The latest update allows users to replace their background using a Google image through MediaPipe. The background can either be a hand-picked image in Google Meet or an uploaded user image. Google Meet image library houses abstract backgrounds, office spaces, and popular landscapes. What’s better is that this ML model has a low power consumption on any device.

Google Meet introduces replaceable background as of 30 October 2020.

Implications for Marketers:

The replaceable backgrounds on Google Meet are an affordable way to create unique and fun content. For marketers, this technique can help brands deliver a constant advertising theme. They can try superimposing the brand’s logo on live streaming and video conferences. As such, it delivers quality imagery uplifting a brand’s credibility.
