WhatsApp

Last New Year’s Eve, WhatsApp broke the record of having the most audio and video calls in a single day. The platform has recorded a whopping 1.4 billion calls during that time. This prompted it to launch audio and voice calls features on its desktop app. The new features work both for Windows PC and MAC. They can both work well on landscape and portrait orientation. WhatsApp also assures that the calls are end-to-end encrypted. To make an audio or video call, a WhatsApp desktop app user can see a standalone window at the top of their screens. The window can be resized according to their preferences.

Implications for Marketers:

WhatsApp’s audio and video call on a desktop can slightly ease up the privacy issue tension among its users. For marketers, these features can be another option to engage with the WhatsApp community. With 2 billion users worldwide, brands should not exclude this messaging network in their marketing strategy. Let’s wait and see. With WhatsApp carts, catalog linksQR codes, and Shops, there’s more to market in WhatsApp.
