The National Football League is the first-ever sports organization to partner with social media platforms for exclusive content. Last September 2019, while heading to its 100th season, NFL created a TikTok account packed with behind-the-scenes and sideline moments of its playoffs. Last April, it partnered with Clubhouse for hosting live audio rooms during the draft. Today, Twitter Spaces will broadcast exclusive NFL content next season.
Twitter Spaces are live audio rooms that can accommodate up to 11 speakers. Spaces rooms are visible to the public as bubbles on Fleets. Anyone can request to join as a listener or speaker pending approval from the Space host. This upcoming NFL Season 2021, Twitter Spaces will be its new live audio-feature partner. The sports giant will create exclusive content for more than 20 Spaces during the season. These will include special streams around the NFL Draft and Superbowl.
Twitter Spaces announces broadcasting exclusive NFL content next season on 08 July 2021.
Implications for Marketers:
Twitter’s exclusive partnership with the NFL aims to boost the reach of Spaces. For marketers under relevant sports brands, this is an opportunity to promote their products and services using audio content. In the long run, exclusive Spaces content can also be a great way to boost brand awareness and conversion.
