Instagram has been experimenting with ways to improve user experiences. The platform has been testing 3 different feeds to cater to the user’s preferences. It is also currently testing AR stickers & texts, full-screen mode, and a live producer for desktop. Today, Instagram tests notes shelf and shows ads on profiles.
First off, Instagram adds a notes shelf to the direct inbox. Here, Instagrammers can post status updates or whatever they wish for sharing with their connections. The notes are limited to 60 characters long and are visible in the top-right corner of the IG inbox. Instagram is also testing showing ads on profiles. Called profile feed ads, it will be a new monetization tool that will replace in-stream ads.
Instagram tests notes shelf and shows ads on the profile as of 12 July 2022.
Implications to Marketers:
Instagram’s notes shelf and showing ads on profiles are handy ways for marketers to spark more engagement. They can help get Instagrammers interacting more within the app.
