Instagram Removes In-Stream Video Ads

The year 2022 is the era of Reels. First, Instagram merges IGTV, Reels, and video feeds. Not long after, the platform removed IGTV and introduced new editing tools for Reels. Today, Instagram removes in-stream video ads. Reels Ads replace them as an option for video advertising.

Jake the Nerd announces the update via a tweet. Every Instagram advertiser now receives a prompt saying that in-stream video ads are no longer available as an ad placement. The prompt suggests using the Reels Ads instead.
