As TikTok scales on eCommerce, Facebook is set to expand the usage of Reels Ads. Today, Instagram enables “Reels Ads” placement on its marketing API. It will allow 3rd parties to create Reels ads directly on the platform.
Instagram Reels are TikTok clones that allow recording a 60-second video clip with music. It was launched in July 2020. After 11 months, Instagram introduced Reels ads, which is currently available to 8 countries:
- Australia
- Brazil
- Canada
- France
- Germany
- India
- United Kingdom
- United States
Instagram’s marketing API is what developers and partners use to implement ads and campaigns. An INSTAGRAM_REELS placement option features the following functions:
- Reels Ads creation and targeting
- Reels Ads insights
- Reels Ads preview
Instagram notes that there is no need to upgrade the current Marketing API version.
