Quality search results are the main goal of Google. The platform wants to give searchers the best answers and solutions to their queries. That is why the platform continuously updates its core search metrics and shopping experience scorecard. It even enabled multi-search options and voice searches. Today, Google adopts consensus-based techniques to improve search results.
The update is an improvement of featured snippets. These are descriptive boxes on top of a search results page. Using the Multitask Unified Model (MUM), a consensus-based technique will be adopted. It will rank snippets’ callouts based on a general consensus. So, even if a source uses different words but has the same context, it will most likely show on the search results. Google will also adopt the consensus-based techniques to eight more languages. These include the following:
- Dutch (NL)
- French (FR)
- German (DE)
- Indonesian (ID)
- Italian (IT)
- Japanese (JP)
- Portuguese (PT)
- Spanish (ES)
