Snapchat is more than just a messaging app. The platform has a lot of stories to tell. There are custom landmarks to AR stories, dynamic stories, and snap star stories. Today, Snapchat enables shared stories.
Snapchat’s shared stories allow users to invite others to share their own version of a story. It is an iteration of custom stories. Through it, Snap chatters can create a story, add friends to view it, and let them contribute their own version of the story. The only difference between custom stories and shared stories is that the latter allows anyone invited to contribute to a group regardless of location. Like other Snapchat content, shared stories will disappear after 24 hours.
Snapchat enables shared stories on 26 May 2022.
Implications to Marketers:
Snapchat’s shared stories are a new way to collaborate with the community. Marketers can use them to collect user-generated content (UGCs). They can significantly boost brand awareness, engagement, and reach.
