Instagram Reels is continuously gaining exposure as Facebook made efforts to boost it. Today, Facebook officially tests sharing Instagram Reels within the platform. The initial attempt was made last December 2020 where Facebook started testing sharing Instagram Reels on news feeds and Facebook Watch.
Instagram Reels are short music clips that last for 30-seconds. They are a counterpart of TikTok. According to Reuter, Facebook, Inc. announced that they will officially test sharing Instagram Reels within the platform in India. As such, Indian users will now have the option to recommend and share their Reels content on Facebook. The test will show a new Reels panel on Facebook news feeds. Facebook also noted that it may launch its version of Reels.
Facebook officially tests sharing Instagram Reels within the platform as of 09 March 2021.
Implications for Marketers:
As Facebook officially tests sharing Instagram Reels within the platform, it expands the potential reach of Reels. This can encourage creators to create more Reels content which they can monetize using branded content tags and shop tags. For marketers, it may be worth considering these short-form videos in their marketing strategies. If Facebook does launch Reels sharing in other regions, it may be a prime opportunity to get such content to more audiences.
