Twitter Is Continuously Working on Reaction Emojis

Emojis and GIFs have always been a part of messaging and social media platforms. They are cute and fun stickers that liven up a conversation or a post. Last February 2021, Twitter launched twemojis on Fleets. These are new sticker trays that convey moods on Twitter stories. In the following month, the platform is using reaction emojis that are similar to Facebook. Such a type of emoji shows a user’s reaction to a tweet. Today, Twitter is continuously working on reaction emojis.

Again, reverse engineering expert, Jane Manchun Wong, gives a preview of Twitter’s reaction emojis. Besides the “Like” option, Twitter is looking to add 4 more reactions – “Cheer,” “HaHa,” “Hmm,” and “Sad.” These responses were chosen from Twitter’s most tweeted emojis of 2020. Twitter is also testing the “Agree” and “Disagree” reactions through an upward or downward arrow.

Twitter is continuously working on reaction emojis as of 28 May 2021.

Implications for Marketers:

Adding reaction emojis to show how users respond to a tweet is a great option for marketers to gather insights from the Twitter nation. As the platform evolves its features and tools, brands should be on the lookout for anything that can help them connect and convert 199 million Twitter users.
