As Twitter aims to grow marketing within the platform, it also wants to provide more private connections. After enabling the toolbox hub last 04 February, Twitter now tests a DM icon on tweets. It is part of continuous DM improvements such as audio recording and DM searching.
The DM icon is now available to a small group of selected iOS users. It is an envelope box icon appearing beside the heart button below a tweet. Clicking the DM icon allows users to send a direct response to the tweet author via private messaging.
