Are you sick of jumping back and forth from your timeline to your Direct Messages on Twitter? Now, the Twitter nation can do it all in one place. Twitter rolls out DM overlay to desktop.
The pandemic lockdowns cause an increase in the usage of Direct Messages on Twitter. It’s the counterpart of Facebook Messenger and LinkedIn Messaging. To make it easier for users to access their DMs, Twitter made live testing of a chat window to selected users on 26 May 2020. In a Twitter home screen, a small window display will pop up once there is an active DM chat. Users can now reply back to the message by clicking it.
As of 15 July 2020, this DM overlay is now available to all Twitter users on desktop.

Twitter’s DM overlay makes it easier for users to engage with others using direct messages. It allows one to keep a chat while checking tweets.
