Here’s some good news for active pinners! Pinterest now tests “Watch” mode. It is a new tab on the platform that is TikTok-inspired. Pinterest has always been a starter for innovations in digital shopping. The platform was the first to introduce AR try-on, hair pattern search, and virtual test drives. But it seems that Pinterest is behind when it comes to cloning TikTok clips.
“Watch” mode on Pinterest is a new way to discover pins. As shared by @KenSchillinger in a tweet, the new tab features both a “Browse” and “Watch” display. The “Browse” option shows an image or photo of a traditional pin. On the other hand, the “Watch” option shows a full-screen slide of still images that scroll vertically. It is somewhat similar to stories pins that the platform has been testing for a while now.
Pinterest tests “Watch” mode on 12 September 2021.
Implications for Marketers:
Pinterest’s “Watch” mode is still under a small-scale test. But marketers should look forward to such a tool to showcase products and services.
