Google Updates Its Financial Products and Services Policy

Privacy and security are the two main goals of Google when it comes to user experience. The platform introduced the privacy sandbox for Android users last February. To combat misinformation, it also expanded its fact-checking tools and misinformation reporting. Today, Google updates its financial products and services policy.

The move aims to combat financial fraud in advertising. As Google updates its financial products and services policy, the platform will now apply a verification program for financial services advertisers. The verification process requires financial services advertisers to submit a proof of certification from a relevant financial services regulator in their region. Verification applications begin by the end of June as the policy takes effect on the 30th of August in Australia, Singapore, and Taiwan.

Google updates its financial products and services policy on 09 June 2022.

Implications to Marketers:

Google’s updates to its financial products and services policy create a new layer of security against financial scams and frauds. Making financial ads more secure will boost trust in Google search.
