Google aims to make it easier for businesses to show what they have to offer to the online world. The platform introduced new ways to shop through eCommerce tools, Google Lens, and WooCommerce integration. Today, Google adds more ways to update business profiles. The first thing a business needs to do to access the new tools is to log in to its Google My Business account and update the contact information, operating hours, types of services, etc. on the account.
Create Posts Directly Through Google Maps and Search
Businesses can now add updates directly on their Google Listing. When you log in to your Google My Business account, you can now add posts to share updates. This can include new offerings or special promotions right from Google Search. You can also create a post about upcoming events to show when and where they will happen. By signing up for Pointy from Google, businesses in the US can also automate adding their in-store product inventory in their Google My Business account.
Show the Services You Offered Through Google Maps and Search
Businesses can now show the services they offered through Google Maps. In a Google Business account, tap your profile picture on Google Maps. You can also do a Google search by typing your business name. Once you are on your Google My Business Profile, click the “Edit Profile” menu. You can now add the services that you offer on the said tab.
For example, if you’re in a beauty and personal care business, you can show off your specialty services like beard trims, curly hair, dreadlocks, eyelash extensions, etc. For those who are in the food and restaurant business, you can enable online bookings by partnering with a Reserve with Google Partners. Once enabled, you can start accepting delivery and take-out orders. Through the “Edit Profile” menu, food and restaurant businesses can also easily edit their food offering.
Google adds more ways to update business profiles on 17 June 2021.
Implications for Marketers:
As Google adds more ways to update business profiles, it is strengthening the connection between searchers and sellers. For marketers, these are great ways to increase their Google presence. With Google searches growing by 8,000% year-over-year, it will indeed be worth getting on Google My Business.
