After Twitter’s “Analyst Day,” the platform began fulfilling its promises to do a big eCommerce push. It launched “Professional Profiles” last April, with an about tab, business categories, information, and verification badges. Today, Twitter tests “Shop Modules.” This is the next stage of its eCommerce push.
Twitter’s “Shop Modules” is a dedicated space to showcase products and services. When a Twitter user visits a business profile, the “Shop Modules” appears on top. Here, they can scroll a carousel of products. They can tap each product to learn more about them and make a purchase without leaving the Twitter app. Twitter is initially testing “Shop Modules” for English users of iOS devices in the US.
Twitter tests “Shop Modules” as of 28 July 2021.
Implications for Marketers:
Twitter’s “Shop Modules” is a pathway to discovering products on the platform. For marketers, this is a prime opportunity to boost revenue and sales.
