“Spaces” is an audio app allowing Twitter users to have a live discussion on different topics via audio-only. Like the Clubhouse app, Spaces use the power of voice to enhance the connection among the Twitter nation. This feature will be visible as a purple icon under the Fleets’ bubble. Other users who want to listen and participate can tap the ‘Request’ microphone icon.

As Twitter expands testing Spaces to a larger pool of users, it also adds new features. Users can now tweet out upcoming Spaces sessions. Guests who sign up for the event will receive a reminder on their timeline. Such a scheduling option can help get more people within your Space. Twitter is also working on labeling Spaces through titles to boost discovery. It’s also enhancing Spaces listing for participants to view who’s listening on the audio discussion at any time.

Twitter expands testing Spaces together with new features on 01 March 2021.

Implications for Marketers:

Spaces is a new way for marketers to engage with their target audiences on Twitter. Voice connections are emotionally powerful and more intimate. It can also expand a brand’s reach to the visually-impaired market.
