Do you want to have a live conversation on Twitter? You can do it soon as Twitter tests new audio space. After launching audio tweets and quote tweets, audio spaces will allow users to gather via live chats.
Audio spaces are like the Clubhouse audio app. It’s also still under a private testing stage. Audio spaces will be visible under Twitter Fleets’ bubble. The user can start an audio space once he or she posts on Fleets. Other users can join the live conversation by tapping the ‘Request’ microphone icon on the bottom screen. Once the request to join was approved, they can actively take part or merely listen to the discussion. A purple icon on the host’s Fleets’ bubble signals an audio space meet-up in progress.
Twitter tests new audio space as of 17 November 2020.
Implications for Marketers:
As Twitter tests new audio spaces, marketers should prepare how they can leverage their strategy using such a feature. This is a new opportunity to connect with existing customers and target audiences. Live chats have proven to help in customer acquisition and retention. Twitter’s audio spaces can make it easier to personalize connections via live audio chats.
