Last January, Twitter launched communities. These are groups of Twitter users sharing common interests. They will also serve as alternate timelines for topic-focused conversations. Moderators of a community will be the ones to choose the topic and control conversations within the group. Today, Twitter enables pinned tweets within communities. This is to help moderators better nurture communities.
A pinned tweet in the Twitter communities tab will show on top of the community feed or timeline. As a long-requested feature, the pinned tweet will serve as a conversation notice or prompt. The update will be available in Twitter Communities for Android and iOS.
Twitter enables pinned tweets within communities on 31 May 2022.
Implications to Marketers:
Pinned tweets within communities can help marketers spark engagement within a group of target audiences. Through pinned tweets, they can highlight a product launch or teaser. They can even promote upcoming events.
