Instagram Chief Adam Mosseri once again shared a video about a significant IG update. This time, it’s about the chronological feed. Mosseri’s first video was about screen-sharing on IG video calls. Today, it’s about Instagram testing 3 different feeds.

Instagram is now testing new ways to give Instagrammers more choices and control over what they see on their feeds. These are 3 different feeds called home, favorites, and following. The home feed is your regular IG feed. The favorites feed will show feeds from the accounts on your favorites list. The following feed will display posts of accounts you have followed. Mosseri also notes that the home feed is set to get more recommendations. While the following feed is free from any recommendation and comes in reverse timeline order. Hopefully, this update will roll out in the first half of this year.

Implications for Marketers:
Instagram’s 3 different feeds give Instagrammers more control over their timelines. For marketers, this calls for more customized ads and campaigns to persuade IG users to follow a brand. Once they have successfully built a community of followers, they can, for sure, build more meaningful connections.
