Instagram added Reels as an element of Stories. It’s a video mode where users can create a 15-second video clip. They can splice it together with other clips or set it as a music remix. There’s a range of creative editing options for a seamless transition. Also, Explore features top Reels to improve discovery.

Instagram initially launched Reels in Brazil. It expands the use of Reels to France and Germany effective 24 June 2020.

Implications for Marketers:

As Instagram expands the use of Reels, let’s look forward to having it available to worldwide users in the coming days. As videos continue to grow in popularity and importance, Reels can be a good content opportunity for brands. Marketers can mash up product teasers on Reels video. They can be creative enough to engage an influencer in highlighting the brand. Or re-create popular trends by making it relevant to a brand’s value. The key is to master Instagram’s video ads format.
