Instagram keeps its flame burning for eCommerce. Recently, the platform launched Creator Lab, a new portal where creators can create, earn money, and grow. This comes together with the latest eCommerce tool, product tags. Brands and businesses can use them to promote products and services through IGTV, promoted product listing, Reels, and Stories. Today, Instagram enables product tagging to everyone.
Comms manager at Meta, Alexandru Voica, tweets today that everyone can now tag products on Instagram. The move aims to make it easier for Instagrammers to discover and share new products and services, especially from small brands and businesses. Previously, product tags are only available to approved creator accounts. When someone tags a product on Instagram, the business owner will receive a notification to view the tagged content.
The update will roll out in the United States within the next few months. Hopefully, it will be rolled out to all regions. Instagram enables product tagging to everyone on 22 March 2022.
Implications for Marketers:
Enabling Instagram product tagging to everyone can help marketers boost branding and reach. It can be a free or organic way to promote brands, products, and services.
