Instagram is making a radical change in its video features and tools. After transforming into a photo-and-video-sharing platform, it will be removing IGTV. Feed videos will replace it together with IG Stories and Reels. Today, Instagram enables auto-generated captions on feed videos.
Instagram feed videos allow sharing of videos using new camera filters, people & location tagging, and video trimming. Starting today, captions will be on-default when uploading feed videos on the Instagram app. It aims to make feed videos more accessible to the deaf and hard of hearing. Feed video captions are available in 17 languages. Instagrammers can turn the feature on or off on the manage caption tab.
Instagram enables auto-generated captions on feed videos as of 01 March 2021.
Implications for Marketers:
Auto-generated captions on Instagram feed videos can maximize viewership in both a sound-off and sound-on environment. For marketers, they can help boost connection and engagement with Instagrammers.
