This update seems overdue! Clubhouse announces that its Android version will be globally accessible before the end of May. This is to complete the beta test of Clubhouse for Android. Launched in March 2020, Clubhouse is an invite-only audio app. It celebrated its 1st anniversary with 13 million downloads.

A recent tweet from Clubhouse’s Twitter account shows that Clubhouse for Android is now available in Brazil, India, Japan, Nigeria, and Russia. It also notes that the rest of the world will have access to Clubhouse for Android by the afternoon of 28 May 2021. Still, this social audio app has an invite-only membership option.

Implications for Marketers:
Clubhouse for Android is a move to expand the audio app’s reach after a decline in its download rate. This is because Twitter has officially launched its clone called audio Spaces. Still, its invite-only membership has been Clubhouse’s strength and weakness at the same time. It fueled exclusivity but also hampered larger reach. For marketers, Clubhouse for Android may be a late move. Although it’s still early to judge if such a social audio app can help promote brands.
