YouTube never kept it a secret that creators are the heart of whatever they do. That is why they are constantly exploring ways for creator monetization. These include monetization strategies like merch shelf, Super Chats, Super Stickers, and tired channel memberships. Google even enabled RPM metrics to help creators assess their revenue rates. Today, YouTube enables “Super Thanks” as the new member of its Supers family.
YouTube’s new “Super Thanks” feature allows fans to express gratitude and show support among creators by buying tips under four price points between $2 to $50 or its local currency equivalence. Fans will see a bonus through animated GIFs plus colorful and distinct comments to highlight their purchase. Creators can respond to these comments on priority. As such, “Super Thanks” works double duty for creators. They keep the creator’s connection with their fans besides earning money. The feature is currently in beta with a selected group of creators.
YouTube enables “Super Thanks” on 20 July 2021.
Implications for Marketers:
YouTube’s “Super Thanks” option is a new way to entice creators in joining the platform. Among marketers, this can be a new opportunity to earn more revenues while promoting a brand, product, or service.
