Here’s another data security push from WhatsApp! The multi-messaging platform introduces end-to-end encrypted backups. Last month, WhatsApp enabled end-to-end encryption on its chat messages. Such a security feature is an addition to the archive options and disappearing photos and videos on chats.
WhatsApp’s end-to-end encrypted backups allow users to protect their data history on iCloud and Google. To keep these pieces of data private, WhatsApp users can now lock them with either a 64-digit key or a password of their choice. As such, neither your backup service provider nor WhatsApp can access or read them.
WhatsApp introduces end-to-end encrypted backups on 14 October 2021.
Implications for Marketers:
WhatsApp’s end-to-end encrypted backups aim to boost the privacy and security of data in the platform. It can be a good thing for marketers who also want to earn credibility and trust among WhatsApp users.
