WhatsApp is a messaging platform under Facebook’s family of apps. One thing that makes it unique is the ability to keep messaging private. After its API update, the platform enabled joinable group call features, multi-device login, and voice speed control. To let WhatsApp users prioritize more important conversations, WhatsApp enables archive options for chats.
Starting today, WhatsApp users can archive group chats. If a user feels that the group chat is no longer relevant to their current WhatsApp engagement, he or she can transfer active group chats to archived pages. This feature has long been available in WhatsApp. But the updated archive options no longer send notifications for archived chats. Archived chats are hidden folders that can be re-activated as a WhatsApp user prefers.
WhatsApp enables archive options for chats on 27 July 2021.
Implications for Marketers:
WhatsApp’s updated archive options are a minor update to the platform’s functions. But for marketers and users, this can be a good way to manage chats and show up priorities on the active chat messages. By filtering the noise from irrelevant group chats, marketers can better focus on targeted campaigns.
