Podcasts have made their name on social media. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the Clubhouse app, a platform for live audio conversations, reached the limelight. Twitter cloned such an app via Spaces. Equipped with management tools, they have quickly gained a lot of followers. To strengthen Spaces, Twitter enabled its creation through the retweet menu and tweet composer. Today, Twitter tests the option to start a Space via replies.
The update is currently under experimentation for Android users. A “Start a Space” button is now available under the reply composer to some Twitter for Android users. It allows people who follow each other to start a Space from a tweet reply. The original tweet will be added to the Space title on the reply. Anyone can tap the reply to listen to the audio convo.
Twitter tests the option to start a Space via replies on 13 July 2022.
Implications to Marketers:
As Twitter tests the option to start a Space via replies, it gives marketers a new option to boost conversion and engagement. Audio conversations can be easier to provide details and speed up sales.
