Facebook Tests Green Screen Option on Stories - Social Stand

Facebook Tests Green Screen Option on Stories

We’ve got a new enhancement on Facebook Stories! Facebook is now testing the green screen option. Such a feature is similar to Google Meet’s replaceable backgrounds and Twitter’s custom backgrounds on Fleets.

Facebook’s new green screen option allows users to add a photo or video from their camera roll as their story background. Under the creative tools of Facebook Stories, the green screen icon shows the following options:

  • Hold to add a video background
  • Tap to add a photo background

After choosing the desired background, users can film their Stories with the added visual as a solid background of their video clips. The option came from an available Instagram Stories tool which Facebook integrates into the platform.

Facebook tests the green screen option on Stories as of 22 March 2021.

Implications for Marketers:

The new green screen option on Facebook Stories is a new option to enhance the users’ video clips on the platform. For marketers, this can be a creative consideration when adding Stories to a brands’ content strategy on Facebook. The top feed placement of Stories can be a valuable branding tool for brands. So, marketers should consider Stories on their content mix
