Facebook Limits Profile Frames to Approved Organizations and Profiles

Facebook Limits Profile Frames to Approved Organizations and Profiles

After adopting a new verification approach last year, Facebook enabled professional mode. It is connected to a Facebook Business Suite to simultaneously access Facebook, Instagram, and Messenger. Recently, Facebook removed videos on the profile media section of an account. Today, Facebook limits profile frames to approved organizations and profiles.

The update is an ongoing effort from Facebook to limit profile frames to approved organizations and profiles. Last year, such profile frames have been limited to authoritative organizations on Facebook. Effective on the 21st of March, only the profile frames from selected government services and organizations will be available.

Profile frames are templates on Facebook’s frame studio that can be added as design to a profile picture. Most Facebook users apply profile frames as a display of support for an account, a cause, or a page. Basically, as Facebook limits profile frames to approved organizations and profiles, it aligns with cause-specific frame customization.

Implications for Marketers:

As Facebook limits profile frames to approved organizations and profiles, marketers should find alternatives to highlight branding on Facebook profile images. Profile frames are decorative and fun creatives. But Facebook is looking at highlighting the cause instead of creatives.
