Facebook announces the removal of profile videos by 07 February 2022. Profile videos have been around since 2015. It allows a Facebook user to upload a 7-second clip that loops and repeats on the profile image section of a Facebook account.
In a tweet shared by social media expert Matt Navarra, Facebook is currently sending this notification:
“Profile videos are going away soon
If you don’t replace your video with a photo, on February 7 the cover image of your video will become your new profile picture.”

Implications for Marketers:
Removing Facebook profile videos is not a major shift. For marketers, it means being creative in choosing a replacement image that can highlight a brand’s pride.
