Starting today, Clubhouse users can receive and send payment directly on the app. The rollout will be in waves which Clubhouse expects to be complete within the month. Clubhouse users can enable or disable the direct payment process. To send a payment, simply tap the creator’s profile, tap send money, and enter the amount you wish to send. 100% of the payment goes to the creator. While the sender will be charged a small processing fee from Stripe. Please note that a user cannot send payment if it’s not enabled in the receiver’s account.
Clubhouse launches direct payment process as of 05 April 2021.
Implications for Marketers:
Clubhouse’s direct payment process is a move to keep its top broadcasters active by helping them monetize their voice content. For marketers, this can be a trendy way to connect with an exclusive audience. Brands can take advantage of earning more revenue as Clubhouse doesn’t get a cut on the payment.
