Voice marketing has taken a back seat in recent years. But this year, audio-based ads start dominating social media networks. This may be because it has a better emotional connection with the audience. A new chat app launched in March 2020 has recently been making waves. The clubhouse is an invite-only audio-based chat app for iPhone users. Such an app was used by famous celebrities to host chats and audio conversations including Ashton Kutcher, Kevin Hart, MC Hammer, and Oprah Winfrey. Today, Clubhouse launches its first creator accelerator program.
Named “Clubhouse Creator First”, the first creator accelerator program aims to support 20 creators with the resources they need to bring creative ideas to the audio-based app. These include expertise and financial support. Paul Davison, Clubhouse CEO & Co-founder, mentioned in a recent town hall session that:
- The Clubhouse app will be sending equipment to qualified creators which they can use to monetize their concepts under sponsorship programs.
- Creators who are selected for the first creator accelerator program will be guaranteed at least $5,000 monthly.
The deadline for application is on 31 March 2021.
Implications for Marketers:
The Clubhouse app is a new platform for marketers to boost brand awareness and engagement. Although it’s still an invite-only app, it may soon be open to public membership. Such an audio-based platform has very good potential with Facebook and Twitter now working to clone it. With voice marketing on the rise, brands should be flexible to shift marketing strategies.
