Introducing New Tools for Facebook Watch
Facebook

Facebook Watch is a free video-on-demand service within the platform. The updates include:

  • Music Videos. This is a new category allowing users to explore music videos based on artist, genre, mood, and playlist. It’s only available in India, Thailand, and the United States for now.
  • Topics You Follow. This tool helps users customize the videos on Facebook Watch per topic. Users only need to choose between the available categories. As such, the videos they’re interested in will likely show on the list.
  • Watch for Live Videos. This is a dedicated section for Live Events hosted by Facebook. The latest Live Event shown recently was the finals of the UEFA Champions League.

Implications for Marketers:

Facebook Watch is gaining momentum. For marketers, this is an opportunity to reach a new audience on the platform. Brands can harness the power of influencers using original videos. Better yet, focus on Facebook Live to connect to target audiences. There’s a big possibility that one day, Facebook Watch will open its door to such a category.
