Facebook Rolls Out New Podcast Listening Tools

Audio marketing is on the rise, and so is audio-based content. Since Clubhouse hit the spotlight, other social media platforms have been creating clones. In 2020, podcast ads have recorded an $8.42 million revenue. Last October, Facebook launched a podcast about business hosted by David Fischer. Today, Facebook rolls out new podcast listening tools.

Starting the 22nd of June, podcast hosts can now link their RSS feeds on Facebook. The link will automatically generate a news feed post that will show up on a podcast tab. Facebook users can listen to these podcast episodes without leaving Facebook. Podcast hosts also have the choice whether to enable or disable short clip creation on Facebook. If enabled, listeners can create and share 1-minute clips from their favorite podcasts. Podcasters who want to publish on the platform should first opt for Facebook’s podcast terms of service.

Implications for Marketers:

The new podcast listening tools on Facebook are another push to create monetization tools on the platform. For marketers, a podcast can be a new avenue to promote products and services. Brands can partner with relevant podcasters to target a specific audience and achieve their marketing goals.
