facebook pages will move our story to additional information

Since the 2nd half of 2020, Facebook has been rolling out changes on business Pages. Last 01 June 2020, the platform added a direct in-mail option on the Page app. This 06 January 2021, it launched a new design for Pages. By the end of February, Facebook Pages will move “Our Story” to “Additional Information.”

  1. “Our Story” was launched for Facebook Pages

“Our Story” was launched for Facebook Pages on 18 June 2018. It is located on the right side underneath the cover photo of a Page. This section offers businesses the perfect opportunity to showcase beautiful images and creative narratives. Brands can show off great visuals on the “Our Story” images. They can also tell their visitors what they are in a glance through its 128-character title. They can share further details in the body text.

  2. Facebook now alerts Page owners

Facebook now alerts Page owners about the removal of the “Our Story” section by the end of February 2021. A prompt will pop up once you open a Facebook Page. It notes that the “Our Story” section will be going away and Pages can add their existing data on the section to the “Additional Information” Facebook page section.

Facebook Pages will move “Our Story” to “Additional Information” by 28 February 2021.

Implications for Marketers:

Moving the “Our Story” to the “Additional Information” section on Facebook Pages will alter how extra information about a brand or business is presented. Thus, marketers should reassess the layout of Facebook Pages to keep up with the new changes. The “Our Story” section highlights the “why” of a brand. So, marketers should find a way on how to boost the visibility of that “why” in the “Additional Information” section.
